Jewellery Care & Maintenance
Much of our jewellery is handcrafted from sterling silver and finished with plating such as rhodium, gold, or rose gold. With the right habits, you can keep your pieces bright and beautiful for years. The tips below are practical guidelines—apply them whenever you wear or store your jewellery.
Care instructions
- Remove jewellery—especially rings—before strenuous workouts, heavy housework, gardening, or any activity where the piece might snag, strike hard surfaces, or be exposed to dirt and chemicals.
- Limit contact with soap, cosmetics, fragrance, hairspray, and harsh or solvent-based cleaners. Perfume and lotion are best applied before you put your jewellery on, not sprayed directly onto it.
- Chlorine and salt water can damage or discolour plated finishes, especially when combined with heat. Avoid wearing pieces in swimming pools, hot tubs, the ocean, or during intense sports.
- Wipe pieces gently with a soft, dry cloth after wear to remove skin oils and moisture before storage.
Storage instructions
- When not in use, keep each item in the pouch or box provided, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
- Store pieces separately so necklaces do not tangle and harder items do not scratch softer finishes. Lay items flat where possible; avoid bending flexible parts or stacking heavy objects on top.
- Silica gel packs (desiccants) in your jewellery drawer or box can help reduce moisture in humid climates.
- Avoid storing jewellery in bathrooms for long periods, as steam and humidity accelerate tarnishing.
